This concept inspired the subject of my thesis investigating the question “Poverty Porn & Psychic Numbing – Are Third World Children Exploited in Charity Advertising Campaigns.” Since the age of 16, I’ve spent my summers volunteering and teaching special needs children in India, Ghana, Vietnam, Cambodia and Uganda, which inspired my book project ‘Hi Muzungu’. In 2022 I volunteered my skills as a designer to a non-profit social enterprise in Malawi and in 2023 an educational non-profit in Colombia. During my travels, I kept a photo diary, here are a few!
